Why Fresno Homeowners Choose Trane HVAC

We provide independent Trane HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation across Fresno, and we service every major Trane line you’re likely to have sitting in your hallway closet or out back by the fence. If you own a Trane in Fresno, you already know the heat here doesn’t pull punches: 100°F stretches in July and August mean your system runs hard, and when a Trane-specific part fails, you need someone who knows the difference between an XR14 and an XV20i without a manual. We’re that crew. Call (559) 354-6878 and you’ll get a live person who can schedule a Trane tech to your door, usually same-day.

Brandt HVAC Co Fresno is an independent Trane service provider. We are not affiliated with or authorized by Trane, and we don’t pretend otherwise. What we are is genuinely fluent in Trane equipment: the model lines, the failure patterns, the warranty nuances, and the parts that matter. Fresno homeowners call us because we fix Trane systems right the first time and tell you plainly what it costs before we touch a thing.

Why Trust Brandt HVAC Co Fresno for Your Trane HVAC?

Devin Marlowe grew up in Los Angeles and learned his HVAC fundamentals at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending nearly two decades turning wrenches on residential and light-commercial systems across the Central Valley. He’s been keeping homes comfortable from the Tower District out to the newer subdivisions on Fresno’s east side, and he knows exactly what a San Joaquin Valley summer does to a Trane air handler when it decides to quit at noon on a 105-degree day. His phrase for the work: “Tell you what it needs, tell you what it costs, get it done right.”

That’s not a slogan pinned to a wall. It’s the operating rule. Every Trane repair starts with a written price before any tool comes off the truck. Every repair includes a written guarantee. And since we’re part of the Threshold Group family, every tech who arrives at your door has been background-checked, identity-verified, and sent to you by name and photo before they ring the bell. If someone shows up who you weren’t told to expect, that visit is on us. For Fresno homeowners who are home alone, parents with young kids, or older homeowners who’ve learned to be careful about who they let in, that matters.

On the Trane side specifically: our techs work on Trane systems across Fresno County daily. We keep rolling inventory of common Trane-specific parts so repairs don’t stall waiting on a distributor. And because we’re independent, we fix what’s actually wrong. We recommend replacement only when the math favors you.

Common Trane HVAC Problems We Fix in Fresno

  • Trane comfort control thermostats dropping Wi-Fi. Older Trane ComfortLink and XL-series thermostats occasionally lose their network connection and silently revert to a scheduled setback. In Fresno, that means the house climbs toward 85°F while the thermostat still reads “72.” The fix is usually a Wi-Fi module reset or a firmware update, but sometimes the wireless card inside the thermostat is toast. We carry replacements on the truck.
  • XV and XL heat pump inverter boards failing with locked-rotor code 126. Variable-speed Trane outdoor units depend on an inverter board to ramp the compressor. When that board fails, the unit often throws a 126 code and locks out, leaving you with no cooling on a 104-degree day. This is a known failure pattern on Trane XV18 and XV20i heat pumps after roughly 8-12 years of Central Valley run time. OEM board replacement is the correct fix, and we stock them for fast turnaround.
  • Trane S9V2 and S9X2 gas furnace draft inducer assemblies cracking at the collector box. The draft inducer housing and collector box on these high-efficiency furnaces sit in the condensate path, and over time the plastic and gasketing degrade. What starts as a small crack leaks condensation onto the control board below, which shortens the board or the pressure switch. If your Trane furnace is dripping water near the front, this is the first thing to check.
  • Aluminum evaporator coils on mid-2010s XR units forming pinhole leaks at the hairpin bends. Trane moved away from copper-and-aluminum coils years ago, but a batch of aluminum coils from the mid-2010s developed pinholes at the tight hairpin curves near the coil header. The symptom is a slow refrigerant leak with no obvious oil stain. A home warranty claim often covers this if you’re the original owner, and we document the diagnosis so your claim goes through clean.
  • Capacitors and contactors wearing out faster in Fresno heat. This isn’t unique to Trane, but it hits Trane owners harder here because the long cooling season means more contactor cycles. Most AC repair calls in Fresno start with a failed capacitor or a pitted contactor. On Trane XR14 and XR16 units, we keep the exact spec capacitor and contactor in the truck. It’s a $150 – $350 fix, but the compressor damage it prevents if ignored is ten times that.

Trane Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

For critical Trane components, we use OEM parts. That means compressors, inverter boards, gas valves, and heat exchangers come from Trane’s supply chain, not a generic catalog. The reason is simple: variable-speed Trane equipment is precise. Connector pinouts, board firmware, and resistance values on OEM parts match what the system expects. A generic board or aftermarket compressor can work for a while and then fail in a way that takes out other components. We won’t do that to you.

For basic wear items like capacitors, contactors, and inducer motors, we use Trane-spec aftermarket parts from our vetted supply chain. These are the parts that wear out on every brand, and a quality aftermarket version meets the same electrical and mechanical ratings as the OEM part, often at a better price. We’ll tell you which type of part we’re using on your Trane and why.

Our repair-versus-replace rule is also straightforward: when the repair cost exceeds 50% of what a comparable new system would cost, we say so. We’ll show you the repair number, the replacement number, and let you decide. No pressure, no “while you’re here” upsell.

Call (559) 354-6878 if your Trane isn’t cooling. We’ll diagnose it, put the price in writing, and get it running, usually the same day.

Our Trane Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis with Trane-specific checks. We start with the basics: airflow, refrigerant pressures, electrical draw, and error codes. But on Trane systems, we also check the inverter board history on XV and XL units, inspect the draft inducer and collector box on S-series furnaces, and test the thermostat for Wi-Fi or schedule faults that can mimic mechanical failures.
  2. 2
Written price before work starts. You get the price in writing. It covers the part, the labor, and the warranty. No work begins until you sign off.
  3. 3
Repair or installation with Trane-spec parts. We use the parts we discussed: OEM for critical components, Trane-spec aftermarket for wear items. On installs, we follow Trane’s installation clearances and charge specifications exactly, because a Trane system installed wrong loses efficiency and lifespan.
  4. 4
Full system test, not just “it runs.” After a repair, we run the system through a complete cycle: startup, staging, temperature differential, and for heat pumps, defrost. On furnaces, we verify flame sense, inducer performance, and safety limits. We don’t leave until the numbers are right.
  5. 5
Written warranty, with a free return visit if it fails. Every Trane repair includes a written guarantee. If it fails within the guarantee period, we come back at no charge, covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That’s not a marketing line. It’s in writing.

Last week our crew answered a no-cool call in northwest Fresno on a Trane XL18i heat pump that had tripped the house breaker twice. The tech isolated a shorted inverter board, replaced it with an OEM board from our van stock, and verified the compressor ran at both stages before testing defrost. The customer had cold air again in under two hours, and we documented the repair for their home warranty file.

Trane Products We Service & Install in Fresno

We work on the full residential Trane lineup, including the XR14 and XR16 single-stage air conditioners and heat pumps, the XL16i and XL18i two-stage systems, the XV18 and XV20i variable-speed heat pumps, and the S9V2 and S9X2 high-efficiency gas furnaces. We also service Trane air handlers, coils, and packaged units you’ll find on many Fresno rooftops.

Our install team has deep experience putting Trane systems into Fresno’s housing stock: post-WWII ranch homes with slab-on-grade ducting, mid-century properties with hot attics that leak conditioned air, and newer stucco builds in the north and southeast. We also handle our AC Repair services like heat pump repair, compressor repair, and UV air purifier installation on Trane systems, which matters in the Central Valley where poor air quality pushes homeowners toward filtration and purification upgrades.

We Also Service These Brands

Trane is a big part of our work, but it isn’t the whole job. Brandt HVAC Co Fresno services all major residential HVAC brands, including Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York, Daikin, Bryant, and American Standard. If you have a multi-brand house or you’re not sure what you have, we’ll figure it out and fix it.
